Central, on the rise, divers
The “Blijdorp” area is an up and coming region of Rotterdam close to the famous “Vroesenpark” and “Blijdorp Zoo”. The “Vroesenpark” is a large park popular among sunbathers and barbecue lovers during the summer. Blijdorp consists largely of apartments built in the 1940’s – 1960’s. The city center is easily reachable by public transport or by bike. Furthermore, the Blijdorp metro station is home to all metro lines and also allows you to travel easily to Schiedam or The Hague. Parking is via a parking permit and the A20 as well as A13 are easily reachable. A variety of shops and supermarkets can be found in the surrounding area. In Blijdorp you will find the Blijberg International School, the Harbour IBSR and the RISS. Blijdorp is a quiet residential neighborhood with one major attraction: the Rotterdam Zoo. Diergaarde Blijdorp is one of the oldest zoos in the Netherlands and among the loveliest animal parks in Europe. All the regions of the world are represented here, from the savannas of Africa, where world-famous gorilla Bokito lives with his family, to the Asian Jungle Trek with its beautiful and historically famous lion habitat.
