delfshaven
If your heart desires typical Dutch architecture, charming canals, and quaint little streets, then Delfshaven is the place for you.
Historic, popular and ‘Dutch’
The area of Delfshaven in Rotterdam is a beautiful district that still has many remains of the old city, which survived the 1940 bombardment of Rotterdam. The area used to be a separate municipality until 1886, serving as the harbor for Delft. This is also where the name Delfshaven (“Port of Delft”) comes from. One can still find the old windmills, historic houseboats for living and seafood restaurants here. Rotterdam city center is within walking distance and the location in relation to motorways, public transport (tram, metro, bus), (primary) schools and shops is excellent. Delfshaven residents get to enjoy their own food market, which takes place every Thursday and Saturday at Markt Visserijplein. Housing in the area varies quite a bit. This makes this district a very diverse place to live. With monumental townhouses and characteristic mansions but also with lovely apartments for starters, young professionals, Delfshaven is a very popular district to live in. The green Rotterdam city park near the Euromast is nearby. Here you will find restaurants, nature, water features and beautifully landscaped lawns. It is great recreation there on nice sunny days. Historical Delfshaven offers a wide choice of art galleries, restaurants, brasseries and lovely walks along the water. Looking for a new (temporary) home in Delfshaven district in Rotterdam?
